Things Look Better with One Eye Closed

Kitai's eyes widened and immediately changed back to her normal form. "Oops!" she said. "Could that much have hurt it? I wasn't in that form for very long. I don't know anything about having children; what else should I know? Can I still do some forging? I don't have to move around a whole lot when doing that."

"Calm down, calm down. You're fine," Jan said. "I don't really know much about were children, but since you're human based, I'll tell you what I would tell a human. What you eat, the baby eats. You'll need to start eating a balanced diet, one that includes meat, though I know you're a vegetarian."

"No drinking, no smoking or anything like that. Sleeping on your back, stomach, or right side could potentially hurt the baby. Yes, forging is okay. As for shifting... Well your sister said that when she shifted to were form it didn't seem to hurt Aodan, but it's not something I would make a habit of doing a lot. You also shouldn't stress yourself physically or mentally. Those kinds of things could kill it."

Kitai sighed. "I guess that means I'm already useless for fighting then," she said disappointedly. "And hunting. At least I can still make things." She started walking back in the direction of the rest of the Rebellion. "We should probably start moving soon."

((As long as it's not Kitai miscarrying Chester, go for it! I think I'd slit my wrists if you killed Chester. TT^TT))

Akaelin rose to his paws as people started to pack. He shook himself, then started to walk around the group, his joints creaking from lack of use. Once he was satisfied that everyone was up and packed, he started to herd them back in the direction they had been travelling in.

Kitai was about to struggle up onto her tall horse again when Quill took her arm to stop her. "Take Laertes," she offered. "His gait is much smoother than that of a horse. I'm sure that it would be better for the baby. Plus you would be able to get up on him without a struggle. Jetta, can you listen to see how it's doing?" The owl was the only one with hearing sharp enough to pick up the faint heartbeat of the fetus inside of Kitai. The werewolf got very concerned when she saw a look of surprise come over Jetta's face.

"What?" she asked worriedly. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Jetta replied. "They are doing fine,"

Kitai sighed with relief before she saw her sister's eyes widen with surprise this time. "What?!"

"Kitai, she just said that they are doing fine."

"They?" Akaelin echoed, having shifted form. "They?! How many heartbeats are you hearing? Don't tell me there's like...6 and she's gonna swell to the size of a balloon by next week or something." He shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Way to fuck things up as usual Yoko," he mumbled under his breath.

Jetta shook her head and Kitai and Quill also looked at her expectantly. "There's just two extra," Jetta said. "And I can't sense any more presence, if there were to be additional ones whose hearts wouldn't be beating. She's carrying twins."

"Haha, just like us!" Quill hugged her sister, who was relieved to hear that she wasn't carrying a highly unusual number. "I wonder if it's more probable to have twins if you are a twin?"

"Then you probably won't carry for nine months," Jan said. "Twins almost never go to full term. Just don't start getting cravings for chalk."

"Chalk?" Akaelin echoed, and Jan nodded his head. "Yeah. Quill had a fettish for strawberries, but I knew a woman who carried twins and got cravings for chalk."

"Strawberries are delicious whether you have cravings for them or not, but I don't see how you'd ever want chalk," Quill commented.

"Do I really have to eat meat?" Kitai asked. "Or can I eat a lot of eggs for protein?"

"I've also seen cravings for clay and dirt too," Jan added. "And I don't see why you couldn't eat eggs as long as you still get the appropriate amount of protein." He gave a small sigh and bit down on his tongue, seemingly becoming uncomfortable. He had had a bad experience with twins, and could only hope that Kitai didn't go through the same thing.

"I'll buy some chickens at the next village we come across then," Kitai said, happy that she didn't need to break her chosen diet.

"Hmmm, I'm sure she would eat even meat if a certain someone fed it to her," Quill commented. She grinned as Kitai's face turned red from embarrassment.

"I need to tell him that I'm actually having twins," Kitai said. "And we need to come up with names. How can you tell later on what gender they are if they're twins?"

((I'm thinking a girl and a boy. My main reason for doing this is that I also wanted her to have a daughter XD. We have too many hyperactive little boys running around))

Jan rubbed the back of his neck. "Well...Usually with twins, its two of the same gender. That's not always the case, mind you. But that's what 'usually' happens." He trailed off for a moment as he tried to remember the way to tell. "I think it's...if you carry high, it's a girl, and low equals boy. Something like that again."

"Get ready to buy your chickens Kitai," Akaelin inturrupted. "We're comming up on the next town."

((Do you want Yoko to magicly pop in? Oh, and by the way. If you kill either of those kids, Yoko's gonna come out of that Satanic bolt hole in your toilet and kill you. He's the anti-christ. He can do that. XD

((That may not be the smartest bolt hole to pop out of, seeing as he might get a faceful of something rather nasty XD But I think I've put Kitai through enough lately, she can have her kids))

"Are we all going in?" Kitai asked. It didn't seem like such a good idea to her to have all of them enter the city, even if their numbers had been greatly decreased. But perhaps they would have a chance of finding more people to join with them. After all, it wasn't as if any individual village could resist the end of the world on its own.

"Let's go visit some of the shops there so you can pick out a weapon," Jetta said to Kieran. "Kitai can't exactly forge while we're on the move, but she will have time to improve whatever we buy. I may have officially put you into the Society, but it's unlikely that you would be able to handle the weight of the swords that we use."

"We'll rotate," Akaelin said. "Some of us will go in now while the rest camp outside. We'll go in, do what we need to do, then leave, and the people who camped can go in for anything they need."

Kieran gave a small, half bow in acknowledgement. At the moment, since Jetta owned him, he considered her as more of a master than just a superior.

"Okay, then I can make some wooden cages for the chickens I buy too when the rest are in," Kitai said, getting off of Quill's hellcat. "But Laertes better stay outside."

"Siva," Jetta motioned for the Rank 17 warrior that had come with her in the group. She was the only one that openly accepted Kieran as part of the Society, seeing the death of the dictator humans as an opportunity to abolish the legacies of their tyranny. The first thing to go in her opinion should be the unnatural creation of the old warrior types, preferring instead just highly trained normal people. "Siva is the one of our few members that has mastered many weapons other than the sword," Jetta continued. "She can help you pick out something that suits you. But you have to tell her your opinion on what you actually think of the things; you don't want a weapon that you can't wield."

Jetta wanted Kieran to give an opinion? She'd probably be better off ripping his nails off. The torture would be less. He honestly didn't know the first thing about weaponry, and he'd probably just end up hurting himself. But if that's what Jetta ordered him to do, he would have no choice but to comply. He simply bit his tongue and nodded his head, letting the two know that he understood.

"Oh come on 51," Siva said with a grin as she fell into step beside Kieran. She was unusually short for a Society warrior and was at least 6 inches shorter than him, but was still able to carry the immense weight of the typical Society sword on her back. A blowgun and a couple sai dangled from her belt as well. "Jetta's taken a liking to you - not in that way of course. She just wants to honor your sister's wishes and give you the means to defend yourself."

Kieran wasn't sure who Siva was talking to when she said 51. He looked puzzled for a moment, then remembered. 'Oh wait. I guess that's me,' he thought to himself. He flinched slightly when the girl said that Jetta had taken a liking to him, then relaxed a bit when she finished her sentence. He just sort of wanted to get this whole weapon thing over with. The attention made him feel vastly uncomfortable.

Siva stuck her tongue out playfully and reached an arm up to put it around Kieran's shoulder. "Welcome to the family, big bro," she laughed, seeing how uncomfortable with the attention he was. He did actually remind her of her big brother from the few memories she had left of him. Siva was by far the youngest warrior in the Society; she was only 15 years old. "And don't worry about anyone molesting you or anything. We might be a bunch of women, but relationships were forbidden to us. Not that Jetta paid any attention to that."

Kieran clenched his teeth and sucked in his breath sharply, almost as if Sivas touch pained him. She seemed like a nice girl though...but then again, a lot of people he knew had seemed nice, when really they weren't. He let out the air he had been holding in slowly and unclenched his teeth. Trying to work the tenseness out of his muscles, however, proved to be a bit more difficult. He took note of Sivas comment, but not asking questions was something that had been quite literally beaten into him. He figured that Siva was eventually going to get either bored or frustrated with him, since she appeared to have more emotions than Jetta did. "Of course," he said quietly. He was surprised at how much more clear his voice was without the scarf around his face. He felt so exposed without the hood and that piece of cloth. Normally, only his eyes showed, but now he felt like his entire being was out in the open.

"There are not many who can best me... I congradulate you!" Derak said, somewhat humiliated but not showing it... or at least he thought he wasn't... "Twas a good match!" he said, standing up ((permiting that Kitai lets him lol)) and brushing the dust off of himself, "That was very refreshing! I would love to do it again sometime."

Akaelin rolled his eyes at Deraks comment. He didn't really feel like dealing with the human, and left to start browsing the shops, anything to really take his mind off unpleasant things. Although he found so many things unpleasant that it was almost impossible.

"Er, I'm sorry Derak," Kitai said. "It's best for the twins if I don't strain myself physically."

"Not that she'd need to for a snack like you," Quill added, only half-joking.

Jetta shot Siva a look as she mentioned her previous relationship. They had both been high-ranking, so no one dared oppose her relationship with Ryn. But bringing it up still caused her pain.

"Oh! Sorry! I haddn't realized..." Derak said, a little embarrased, "I apologize... I wouldn't have fought as... truthfully if I had known..."
