((Well this is how that argument would probably go.

Nathifa: I'm going.
Akaelin: No.
Nathifa: I'm going, or no sex for you for the rest of your life, and that's a long time.
Akaelin: Dammit. >.<))

Akaelin didn't really have any words of comfort for Kitai. He wasn't the fluffy shoulder to cry on kind of guy that Yoko was. He picked four others to accompany him. One of them was Tynan, whom he had borrowed from Jericho. He was unfamiliar with the Ministry and exactly what they did, or could do, so he figured this little trip would be a good opportunity to find out.

((Okay, so this is how we're gonna do this. After your next post, I'm going to start a new thread for the characters going to Nara. This thread will continue with those who aren't going, i.e. Vane, Arlyn, Jetta, et cetera. Avoiding clutter and confusion is fun! ^o^))

Nathifa nodded. "Okay," she said. "Sykino, I need you, Lorul, and Rysak to stay with and guard the group that will hide in Kanten's tunnels. Adyro, Vefip, and Empassy will travel with the group that searches for nearby help." She had placed the two hyenas that were most prone to rash action with the underground group to avoid any unfortunate mishaps. Rysak she placed with them because his power would be most useful for helping with the tunnels and defending them. The most strategic and even-tempered she put with the traveling group. Though eager for a good fight, Adyro knew when he faced an opponent he couldn't take on and wouldn't do anything stupid.

After Akaelin had left, Arlyn noticed a couple people within what was now his group visibly relax. He knew that a couple people were rather jumpy around his nephew, but he had never suspected that a handful might actually be afraid of him.

This could prove rather fun.

"We're going to head southeast," Arlyn said. "Then circle back up where we'll re-enter the tunnels and join back up with the rest." Hopefully, they would have a few more reinforcements. After the issue in Kanten, Arlyn really didn't want to go back west. So he settled for southeast, since that would be warmer than northeast. Arlyn hated the cold.

((grr, I hates teh sick))

Kitai nodded, but still a bit frustrated that she hadn't been able to go along with Akaelin's group. A sufficient number to protect the group should it fall under attack were going, while those that were injured, sick, weak, or young were sheltering in the trees until the pathways into Kanten's tunnels were open. Quill was also going along with this group, seeing as how she was a pretty even match for the riders should any decide to attack them.

((XD Do you guys have to worry about Swine 09 yet? It's all over Pennsylvania.))

"You wouldn't like Nara," Arlyn said to Kitai absentmindedly as they started to move. "There's little to no sunlight and every time I go there it never fails to make me feel like the world sucks." His sister had lived there for a couple years with Akaelin and Yoko when they were younger. Akaelin had been 7, Yoko 10. Danica had travelled all over the eastern half of the continent with her two children. They had lived in Orn Blod and Vyriskas in the north, each for about three years. They had almost moved even to Salinas in the west until Danica found out that a lot of the people spoke spanish. So she had settled down for the majority of the boys childhood in Serkan. Why Dani had chosen Serkan, Arlyn still wasn't completely sure.

((A few people have it, but it's not a big deal right now. I just got tackled by a ninja rhino virus. Got any music to recommend? I need something new to listen to))

"It's not so much that I wanted to visit Nara," Kitai said. "I don't even know where it is. It's that for the first time since the Rebellion broke off from the League I can't help but feel utterly useless. And even if I could fight I can't fight against Yoko. And if we manage to stay alive for the next number of months I won't even be with you anymore."

"Just because you can't fight does not make you useless," Arlyn stated. "Sayne will more than likely not participate in any of the battles, yet we still found a purpose for him. You say you like making swords and armor? Then that shall be your focus until you depart."

"Yeah," Kitai agreed, though still sounding a little disappointed. It was only after she had become a werewolf and dared not return to her home region that she reallized how different it was outside of Salinas. In her home country she never would have found any happiness being a smith, as girls becoming blacksmiths was frowned upon. Many parts of the country still followed old traditions - one of which saying that metal was sacred and people should not taint it else be tainted by it. Smiths were an exception to this rule, though it was still believed that they were still slightly tainted by their handling of sacred material. Generally parents didn't want any of their daughters receiving this taint.

((Actually read about that pagan belief in my friend's spell book that she has for fun. She occasionally tries some of the things in there, but has yet to see any big results. I think the apples she left out to get blessed by Aphrodite got no such blessing XD))

((I won't lie to you....I started laughing. XD I really don't care about religion one way or another. The whole pagan thing reminds me a bit of Nara though. They don't believe in gods, they believe in faeries. Wait until you meet Fleet. He's got all kinds of stories to annoy Akaelin with. 83))

Arlyn didn't have much more to say to the werewolf. Obviously it was a personal issue that she needed to work out herself. His limbs were starting to feel fuzzy, a sign that he needed to return to his wolf form. As the Elain got older, it got harder and harder for them to maintain their human form. By age 60, it was nearly impossible. So he shifted, feeling his body start to relax at once. His muscles ceased their tense state and the feeling flowed freely through them once more.

((It was pretty funny seeing the expectant look on her face as she gave the apple to the guy she likes. She was about to try the Artemis one next before I pointed out the fine print there that said it was for winning another woman's heart))

Kitai was torn between actually staying behind and smithing, or let the resident smith of the Kanten tunnels take over that for a while. If she was aboveground, then there was always the chance that Yoko might be able to find her. She wasn't sure of how much time that the both of them had left, so she wanted to see him as much as possible before those times came.

((grr, I wants to know what Hel did/is doing to Yoko))

((XD You'll see. I'm going to have Yoko pop in one last time before *spoilerspoilerspoiler* and he'll explain things if he's figured out what's going on himself. ^^))

Arlyn cast a sideways glance at the werewolf, wondering what she was thinking at the moment. He also wondered if she had considered the fact that her children might end up schizophrenic like their father. His sister, his father and his great-grandmother all had had the disease. He wasn't sure where it was located any further back than that. Medication was a definate plus, but it never made the condition go away completely.

"Hey, we gonna do this thing, or we gonna do this thing?" Siva asked, impatiently yet excitedly. She had popped up, leaving Kieran's side for once, and was ready to go. "One of the other ones that came here - maybe 22 - can help Kieran with his sparring. But no way I'm going to sit down in some hole while other people are off fighting!"

"Woo, field trip yeah!" Adyro followed Siva excitedly. Vefip and Empassy ran smoothly, not the frantic jaunty gait that Adyro sprinted over in.

'If we're lucky, we won't have to do any fighting,' Arlyn stated, giving a slight chuckle at Sivas enthusiasm. When she mentioned Kieran, the wolfs lime green eyes flickered over to where he stood, seperated from the rest of the group that was staying behind. Kieran still seemed vastly uncomfortable, his eyes cast downward. He obviously didn't hear the mention of his name, or if he had didn't react to it.

'Alright, let's go,' Arlyn finally said as he turned. A flick of his tail, and then the group started to move.

"Woo!" Siva seemed to enter a sort of race with Adyro, sprinting towards the treeline then waiting for the rest that were coming along. She was always unusually energetic during the day despite getting very little sleep at night. Both parts of her other form had nocturnal tendencies, but they had put something in her that enjoyed the day too. As a result, she was an insomniac but thankfully needed very little sleep to function.

((I swear I replied to this two times on two different computers, and both times the internet failed right after I hit send. >.<))

Arlyns chuckle turned into a slight growl of irritation. It was one thing to be enthusiastic, another to race head first into the unknown.

"If it ist not rude too much, vhat...vhat direction are ve to be going in?"

Arlyn stopped for a moment, allowing the speaker to catch up and walk beside him. It was one of the ministry people, the gryphon with black and brown hair. The wolf couldn't quite remember his name, however he didn't ask. One, because he felt awkward about it, two because he didn't care enough to inquire it. 'Southeast,' Arlyn answered. A different question lodged itself in his brain, and he felt compelled to ask it. "Are you german?" The person - Keyl, Arlyn remembered - actually looked slightly offended. "Russian. Mistake easy though," he answered with a shrug. It explained his accent and broken english. Arlyn gave the guy credit for being able to speak english though.

"I may make suggestion?" Keyl asked. When the wolf didn't protest, he continued. "Saboro be gut place. Very war driven. Gut fighters." Arlyn sighed and thought it over. While the gryphon was right, there was one fairly nice sized problem. He wasn't allowed within a two mile radius of Saboro.

"We can always hit border near desert countries, yeah," Vefip suggested. Empassy was casting worried looks toward the spot where his pack-brother and the young warrior charged off to, but knew that Adyro would be able to find his way back to them after running off some excess energy. "After this Saboro place, we know couple places with good-fighters, yeah."

Quill stood towards the back of the group that was preparing to go, looking utterly bored. Going off to find little cities that they could frighten into fighting with them wasn't exactly her idea of fun, but since this was the largest above-ground group it would be the one that the riders would go after if they were discovered. Then she would be able to have some fun.

'We'll stray from Saboro, unless a few of you want to head there yourselves,' Arlyn said. 'Though I wouldn't reccomend splitting the group up any more than it is.' The wolf didn't like being cut off from everyone else. To him, it made them seem weaker and more vulnerable to an attack. He didn't mention the fact that he actually wasn't allowed in Saboro as it was a Henkilo village.

They continued in mostly silence, save for the occasional conversation here and there. Keyl hadn't protested against steering clear of Saboro, though at first his dissapointment had been evident. He settled back into a rather calm demeanor though, until Seff started to bug him.

"So, you like speak two languages right?" Seff asked as she bounced beside the gryphon, who simply nodded his head. "Okay, but what langauge to you 'think' in?"

"What ever language I speak at time," Keyl answered. He didn't seem bothered by the questions, though silently he was wishing that she wouldn't ask them. He was used to getting the same kinds of questions over and over again. Was it hard learning a new language? How long did it take you? Which do you prefer? Tynan didn't speak english, so never got any of the bothersome annoyances that Keyl did.

((Double post is doubly.))

As they were travelling, Arlyn stopped suddenly and lifted his nose to the sky. A gust of wind stirred in his direction and with it an interesting scent. 'Shit! Saboro patrol,' Arlyn swore. They must've expanded their borders since he had been there last time and the group had entered without permission. No doubt that due to that they would be met with nothing short of hostility. Saboro was a war driven pack and knew little else.

Some began to become worried as they started to hear the sound of hoofbeats approaching them. 'It's not the Horsemen,' Arlyn reassured, shifting to human form. He yawned into the back of his hand exhausted from switching forms so many times during the day, spending most of it as a human. Personally, he would've prefered the Horsemen.

His yawn turned into a sigh as they finally came in contact with seven Saborans. Five were on horseback while two ran in animal form - one lion and a snow leopard. "You've tresspassed on Saboran land," the one said, sounding more bored than irritated. "State your name...and...your..." He trailed off suddenly as his gaze lingered on Arlyn, who waved lazily. "Hey Riven," he said as if greeting an old friend. "Did you send Bryani my love like I asked last time?"

"Of course," Riven replied simply. "Not that she took it well."

Quill pulled Leartes up to the front of the group after they met up with the border patrol in case things turned hostile quickly. She sat on the hellcat's back in a relaxed manner, but was fully prepared to strike with either her swords or her needles if need be.

"We're really not the ones you should be worried about trespassing on your land," she said. "In fact, once you hear what we have to say, you might actually want us here. Well, here, or coming with us."

"If this is about the Viking people, we know," Riven replied. "You think you're the only group who's trying to save their hides? Any kind of presence upon our borders outside of our own is of concern."

"Shall I fetch General Aide Kain?" one of the people on horseback asked. "Don't worry about it," Riven said after a moment of thinking. "I suppose we'll just bring them to him. Although....Arlyn..."

"Yes of course," Arlyn sighed. "I know the regulation." He moved his hands in front of him while Riven slid off his horse with an audible grumble of complaint. "Such a hassle," he mumbled as he grabbed a bit of rope from a saddle bag.

"What's this all for?" Vane asked as he watched Riven bind the wolfs hands. "Saboro is mostly a Henkilo place with a few regular humans mixed in," Arlyn explained. "They start to get a little...anxious if I come unrestrained. Not that I pose that much of a threat anymore," he said, adding the last part with a bitter chuckle. "It's more of a 'for old times sake' thing now. I don't mind it. It's actually easier this way." They were lucky that they had met Riven along the roads and not Melfia. Riven was the general of the naval fleet and sometimes did a bit of boarder patrol when troops were sparse. He did have a bit of a temper when provoked, but for the most part he was extremely lazy. Melfia on the other hand was all brawn and few brains. Doubtless, they would've been met with a lot more hostility if she had been the one on patrol.

"Please keep your hands to yourself," Riven said lazily as he mounted his horse, tying the other end of Arlyns rope around the horn. "Blah blah blah, don't start any fights, Rana rana rana, you get the idea."

Quill moved Leartes forward when they started moving again, but kept a close eye on the patrol that had intercepted them. In times of crisis, sometimes the people you had to trust the least were the very people that you hoped to work with. She had heard too many stories of those who panicked in a difficult situation and caused more damage than the enemy. In the Salinas civil war alone over half the casualties were caused by soldiers that thought the other side had the advantage and turned on their comrades unexpectedly. You're one to talk, she thought to herself as she stared absentmindedly at the scenery.

Kitai's horse was toward the front of the group as well, though it was growing difficult to continue riding. It would be soon that she would have to ask her sister to switch mounts with her to make traveling easier.

"What kind of town is Saboro?" she asked, genuinely curious. In her life she hadn't traveled far outside the borders of Salinas or the area that the Rebellion inhabited.

"From a first glance it's very...simple," Arlyn answered. "The people are very friendly to anyone outside of the Elain." If they still thought that Sai led the Rebellion, they would be welcomed with open arms. If they had already found out that Akaelin was now in charge...well...things might turn out a bit different. "Their military is very organized. Unlike my people, they have the mental capacity for that sort of thing. There's four different divisions to it. The Naval Fleet, Fire Ops, Land Corps, and the Wind Division. They're all sorted based off of animal species and talents."

He turned his attention to Riven for just a moment. "Is the old Liege still alive?" he asked. "Barely," Riven answered. "These days, things are mostly run by G.G."

"G.G. means Governer General-Aide," Arlyn explained to Kitai, looking up at her. It was a shorter version of a long title and the fact that it sounded like a poodles name just added to the humor.

"There was some military organization in Salinas, I think," Kitai said, remembering back to the civil war that she had battled under a decade ago. "I was in the ground division, there was only the naval division besides since nobody really takes kindly to weres there."

"Ooh, a general?" Kitai looked back at the bouncy voice to see Siva bobbing up to the front of the group where all of the excitement was taking place. "What's he like? Does his breath smell funny? 'Cause once I knew this guy and he was called a general and his breath stank really bad like alcohol and tobacco. He was really good at horseshoes though, he beat me every time I played him!" She turned to one of their escorts nearest her. "Hey, what's up?'

"Umm...Hi?" the girl answered looking a bit confused, but also rather pleased at the same time. "I'm Kellie, or just Kel if you like that better."

"As for Kains breath...I don't think it smells bad. I've never gotten close enough to him to really tell. He looks clean though. I'm pretty sure he doesn't smoke and from what I've heard he doesn't have time for drinking. ...Oh well, I'm sure you'll meet him soon enough."

As they entered the gates of Saboro, Vane kept towards the center of the group and out of sight. Saborans wouldn't start anything unless given a reason, but they sometimes used the very presence of an Elain as their excuse. There was a tall building to the north and judging by their direction, it was where they were headed. "That's our armys headquarters," Kel explained to Siva before she could even think about asking. "It's shaped like a pentagon for the different divisions. Each one has its own end. The top five floors are reserved for the Liege and the Governer General-Aide."
