Things Look Better with One Eye Closed

"Don't worry, the marking isn't permanent," Jetta said. "All I did was use my power to alter the pigment in your skin in that place. It's how all of our tattoos are displayed. Do you want to have me fly us back to the rest of the group? Or would you prefer to take a couple of horses? We'd probably be less suspicious that way."

Kitai moved only one leg out of the way when she saw Derak's sweep coming. When it hit her other leg she caught it between her two legs and twisted it so that she could flip him over. She shifted into were form as she dove down herself to pin him, softly closing her teeth around his neck. "Dead," she said.

"As you prefer," Kieran replied. When Ryssa had said that she'd be thrilled if Jetta could get a straight answer out of Kieran, she had meant it. He never gave a preference for anything, even if he did have one. Jetta was right that they would be less suspicious on horseback, but he had never even touched a horse, let alone ride one.

Jetta sighed, Ryssa really was being serious. "We'll fly then, Ktiai must be anxious," she opened the door only to find the Evyran standing immediately outside of it. His eyes widened when he saw Kieran. "What do you want?" Jetta asked

"Ah thought he was dead!" Abe exclaimed. "He was dead and cold!"

"Yes, he was dead. Perhaps you have failed to notice his face. You, Abe, are looking at the first successful male warrior. They will soon populate the ranks 51-100."

"But, his hair ain't right!" Abe insisted. Even he his hair was a sandy blond with silver eyes despite the fact that he had just been an experiment.

"Thus showing our success," Jetta concluded, brushing past him. "It is not in your best interest to question us. Nor would it be good for your health to mention anything about him. That is a direct order." Giving a direct order to him was like to keep him from telling the whole truth while not lying. It should be enough to confuse anyone that went looking for him.

Kieran lowered his head slightly at Abes reaction and he couldn't help but finger a strand of his dark brown hair. Blue and silver eyes looked up at Abe for just a moment as Jetta brushed past him. Though the owl hadn't given a verbal order, Kieran assumed that she wanted him to follow her. He meandered past Abe, careful not to touch him as he followed Jetta.

"We'll just walk until we get away from most of this," Jetta said. "Then we'll be able to fly. I'll try to make it fast since I'm not the warmest person to be around when I use my aravos. Even the air gets colder."

Kieran gave a slight nod of his head, indicating that he understood. He was trying not to look nervous as they walked the streets of Akribos, but every fiber of his being was tensed. Over and over in his mind he imagined someone recognizing him and cutting his head off for a. not wearing the proper colors, and b. not keeping his face covered. The only thing that kept him from visibly shaking was that he didn't want to draw attention to himself. His face was pale and his stomach felt like it was twisted into a knot, until they were finally out of that god forsaken city.

Jetta just continued walking calmly, making sure not to let her long stride carry her too far in front of Kieran. She had changed her hair back to black when they left the inn so she could possibly pass as a relative to him. Despite her calm demeanor, she was on the lookout for people who might try to confront them.

Kieran was more then grateful when they had finally left Akribos behind without anyone coming up to confront them. He looked back nervously over his shoulder, paranoid that someone had followed them out. He couldn't hear or smell anything other than Jetta and for that he was relieved.

Jetta closed her eyes for a moment to pinpoint the Rebellion. She was honing in on Nathifa's energy to guide her since it was the most familiar and powerful of the different presences there. As soon as she located them she changed forms and grabbed Kieran around the middle in her long talons before he could have any opportunity to have second thoughts, lifting off into flight. Even if anyone from Akribos did see a form in her talons, she was off flying at a speed so fast that no one would have had any opportunity to register who or what it was.

Kieran gave a gasp of surprise as Jetta grabbed him abruptly and took off into the sky. She had been right, it was rather cold, but certainly bearable due to the fact that he had been through much worse than a chill. He looked down as the ground zoomed away from them. Surprisingly he didn't feel afraid, though by all means he should have. He enjoyed the feeling of the wind on his face as the owl flew, and probably would be a bit disappointed when they touched ground.

After about a half-hour or so, the sleeping mass of the Rebellion came into view. Jetta started her slow, circling descent downwards towards the ground. She let go of Kieran with one foot so she could use it to land without crushing him, setting him down after she was firmly on the ground.

Jettas landing woke several people in the Rebellion. Kieran became uncomfortable once more as he caught Akaelins silver gaze, and quickly looked down. The wolf simply turned away, settling down into a laying position, though he didn't fall back asleep.

Akaelin didn't really care that Kieran was back, as long as people didn't harp on him about it. What puzzled him though, was the LI mark underneath Kierans left eye. He knew it as a roman numeral, though he wasn't sure which one, due to the fact that he basicly sucked at them. The only people he knew of who had marks like that were the women of the Society...but that couldn't be the case. 1, Kieran was a male. 2, he had no experience in anything whatsoever that would make Jetta want to induct him into the Society. And 3...well...he couldn't think of a three at the moment.

Jetta quickly returned to her human form before her presence caused a drastic change in temperature around the Rebellion. Kitai wasn't with the group currently, but she could feel her presence and another in a clearing a ways away, probably sparring. She would have to see to it that the werewolf didn't strain herself, not that she knew much about pregnancy. Where was Jan when you needed him?

As if on cue, Jan emerged from the trees, arms stretched over his head, yawning loudly. 'And just where did you go?' Akaelin asked the sleepy human. "Had to run back to Sanctuary," Jan replied. "Forgot to leave Torys medicine with her." Akaelin rolled his eyes as the humans forgetfulness. Jans expression became one of confusion as he spotted Kieran with both different clothes, and the roman numeral 51 underneath his left eye. "I'm gonna guess that I missed something while I was gone," he mumbled. "Not gonna ask though."

"Kieran was found by his uncle and taken back to Akribos," Jetta said. "Through a series of underhanded tricks, I now own him so he can never be taken back. His sister asked that I help him learn combat or hunting while the Society symbol discourages people from messing with him. Kitai seems to be sparring a little off that way, you wouldn't mind taking a look at her to see if the baby is developing normally?"

"Sure," Jan said with a shrug. "It'll be rather hard to tell. At this stage she just needs to eat a balanced diet and make sure she doesn't strain herself physically or even mentally. Either one of those could essentially kill the fetus. There's a couple other things, but I'm sure she'd be better off if I told her directly. Where is she anyways?"

"Er, sparring I think," Jetta said, motioning in the direction Kitai was in. "Would changing forms have any effect on it?"

"Didn't seem to do anything adverse to mine," Quill said, emerging out of the trees. She carried a couple dead rabbits tied together and set them down. The hellcat beside her held the greater part of a deer torso.

Jan frowned slightly. "It's not something I'd do often. When one shifts to were form of any species really, the bone structure changes, especially around the pelvic and chest areas. I'd definately be against going into 100% animal form, since animals and people are built in an entirely different manner. Sparring isn't really something one should take too seriously either. Even though it's still in the fetus stage, it's just as delicate as it would be at 32 weeks."

Quill rolled her eyes. "Unless the human she's sparring against uses something unthinkably dirty and clever, I doubt he'll be able to land a single hit on her," she said. "Especially if she's focusing on protecting her stomach area. I don't see how going into animal form would be so bad though. Humans greatly increased their difficulties while bearing children in exchange for walking upright."

"Yes, but a human shaped baby inside the abdomen of a wolf isn't too great either," Jan pointed out. He was guessing that the child would be human shaped, since the parents were both weres, even though the father came from a long line of wolves. Geneticly, the child leaned more towards human shaped than animal shaped.

"Then you better go tell her that," Quill said. "After she's done sparring she'll probably change forms to go and hunt food for herself and the pack. Wonder what the little thing'll look like, being half-wolf, half-fennec."

"I'd guess...a smaller wolf with big ears - not quite as big as the Fennecs though - and a narrower muzzle," Jan replied, turning to go off to find Kitai.

Akaelin watched Jan leave, his gaze laced with confusion. He wasn't sure if he believed the human when he said that he had had to go back to Sanctuary. If he had travelled all the way back to the inn, it wouldn't have taken him that fast to catch up to them. He had no horse, and didn't seem like a very fast runner. The wolf didn't know why he was having suspicions about the human all of a sudden, but he was.

Kitai got off of holding Derak down and stood up, still in were form. "I'm probably going to go hunt for the pack; that shouldn't be overly strenuous." She melted back into a full wolf form and got up, stretching in preparation.

Quill was still fantasizing about what her sister's baby would look like. "So I wonder what we'd call him then? A wox? A wennec?"

"Why don't you let someone else do the hunting?" Jan asked as he stepped out of the bushes, picking at a leaf that had gotten caught in his hair. "Auch diese saugt," he mumbled under his breath. "I'd strongly advise against shifting periodicly, especially into full wolf form. "The physical structure of a human is so different from that of a wolf that it could possibly hurt the baby."
